Road bike film as frame protection film

Many people ask whether you should cover a racing bike frame completely with foil or where you can have it covered?

Does this work or is it also possible for laypeople?

For those who want to refurbish their racing bike, the frame is often a challenge. Dismantling everything, sending the frame for painting, putting everything back together again... This can be quite a lot of work. Especially if you want to do the painting yourself. Masking the whole thing off requires a lot of tape, time and perseverance if you want a good result. And an improvised paint booth or at least a larger outdoor area is also necessary. The advantage of applying a film is clear here: the film can be applied while it is still assembled and does not require a special environment. You could even do the gluing in the comfort of your living room.

Is foiling something for me?

You can design the project however you feel comfortable with the gluing. The whole thing would be a cheap experiment to see whether foiling is an option for you. Beginners should first test how they get on with the foil using straight pipes without cable routing. The result is always such that you want to keep gluing because the foil is so easy to work with.

Tools: cutter/blade, hairdryer and 2 hands.

Measure the foil, cut it to size and glue it carefully and slowly. First glue the sleeves over, blow-dry the foil a little and press it into the recesses (with a squeegee or fingernail) and then cut it out with the blade following the shape.

Road bike foil is already impressive

It's a particularly nice moment when the sleeves are being worked out, the before and after is always impressive. Considering the cost and time involved, the result is impressive. Seat and chain stays can also be partially covered in foil to create a more harmonious overall appearance. And in any case, it's always a good feeling to have done everything yourself.
